Counselling in Lewes and Online

Integrative counselling draws upon a number of different counselling techniques to offer you an approach which suits you and meets your needs.
Counselling and therapy are interchangable terms to describe ‘talking therapies’ which have many different modalities.
My practice is underpinned by theory learned during my Level Four Diploma Training and other academic and post graduate studies. I also engage in ongoing CPD and have practical therapy experience gained counselling my clients during placement, volunteering, as part of a clinical team and in my own practice.
-
Getting started is simple. Drop me an email or a WhatsApp and we can start talking.
You don’t need to know exactly what you want to talk about and, in fact, most people’s needs and thoughts on counselling evolve as they go along.
-
In the first session we start to explore what has brought you to counselling, how you are feeling now and how you want to feel.
I will go through an assessment form with you which takes down some personal information such as address, date of birth and GP details, plus any medication you are taking.
I will also ask what your current mood is and what you want to get from the sessions.
We agree on a regular 50 minute appointment, usually weekly, either on line or in person.
What we talk about each session is led by you, and I will listen and reflect without judgement. I encourage you to be open and honest with me about your feelings and what is going on for you.
We then go from there together - each session is led by you and supported by me.
I work in a safe, ethical and confidential way.
My practice is informed by the ethical framework of the BACP.

You may wonder, as you progress with counselling how you will know if you are feeling better and if counselling is working for you. Some of my clients describe feeling ‘lighter’ or ‘calmer’, more able to cope and see a way forward, but everyone experiences counselling in their own unique way.
It is important to recognise that you can sometimes feel a bit ‘disoriented’ at the start of your counselling, as you explore feelings that perhaps you have been struggling to recognise.
I encourage honest and open feedback and you can tell me if something isn’t working for you.
We review together how you are feeling every few weeks.
There is no minimum or maximum number of sessions - I encourage you to work with me to let me know when you feel ready to finish, and to embrace your autonomy in driving your own experience.
-
A counselling session is usually 50 minutes long.
I offer weekly sessions, usually at the same time and on the same day each week.

Prior to qualifying as a counsellor, I had a long career in a stressful target driven business. I ran a business and managed staff. Along with this I listened to and supported my employees.
Alongside my counselling training, this experience gives me a unique insight and empathy into the stresses and anxiety of managing a work life balance and the expectations of clients, bosses and families.
Additionally I work with clients experiencing burnout and challenged by life transitions, including retirement and redundancy.
-
I have particular experience in mid life changes and the challenges these bring forward - peri menopause, menopause and the feelings which come with these.
My experience includes exploring loss and grief around changing family dynamics - children leaving for university and empty nest feelings.
-
I charge £60 per 50 minutes.
This is payable online before each session begins. I will make my bank details available to you prior to our sessions.
-
Honest, straightforward and compassionate. I work with empathy and honesty, care and compassion to provide a safe and non judgemental space for you to unload and explore your feelings.
My clients speak of my warmth and feeling engaged with me. I let you unfold and tell me your story, and our sessions have a natural pace led by you.
I am not going to offer advice or tell you what to do - I work alongside you to work out how you want to feel and what you want to do - whether this is working on change, coping strategies or acceptance - or all of the above!
-
Yes. Everything you tell me is confidential as described under the BACP guidelines
“In exceptional circumstances, the need to safeguard our clients or others from serious harm may require us to override our commitment to making our client’s wishes and confidentiality our primary concern. We may need to act in ways that will support any investigations or actions necessary to prevent serious harm to our clients or others. In such circumstances, we will do our best to respect the parts of our client’s wishes or confidences that do not need to be overridden in order to prevent serious harm.” BACP 2026
